Whether you're a recreational boater enjoying the Neuse River or running commercial operations along the coast, maritime insurance can be complex. Our independent agents work with multiple carriers to find coverage that matches your vessel, your operations, and your budget.
Your boat is more than transportation—it's where memories are made. We protect recreational vessels of all sizes, from bass boats to luxury yachts, with coverage for damage, liability, and personal property on board.

Commercial marine operations face unique exposures that standard policies don't cover. We protect charter captains, marine contractors, salvage operators, and marina owners with coverage options that address their needs.

When your business depends on cargo reaching its destination safely, you need coverage that understands global shipping risks. We provide ocean cargo insurance and specialty marine coverage for operations that don't fit standard categories.

When it comes to protecting your boat, experience matters. Several agents at The Insurance Center have earned the Certified Marine Insurance Professional (CMIP) designation, demonstrating specialized knowledge of marine insurance coverage and the unique risks boat owners face.
Whether you’re insuring a fishing boat, center console, sailboat, yacht, or other watercraft, our CMIP-certified professionals can help you understand your coverage options and find protection that fits the way you use your boat.

Agreed value coverage pays you a predetermined amount if your boat is totaled, regardless of depreciation. Actual cash value pays the current market value at the time of loss, which decreases over time. For most boat owners, agreed value provides better protection and eliminates disputes at claim time.
Most policies have navigational limits that define where your boat is covered. Coastal policies typically cover nearshore waters, while ocean policies extend further offshore. We'll make sure your coverage matches where you actually boat—whether that's the Neuse River, the Intracoastal Waterway, or offshore fishing grounds.
Your boat policy typically covers the trailer while it's attached to your vessel. However, coverage while towing may require coordination with your auto policy. We'll review both policies to ensure there are no gaps when you're hauling your boat to the ramp.
Commercial marine policies cover business-specific exposures like customer injuries, loss of income, crew injuries, and commercial liability limits. If you're chartering your boat, running fishing guides, or operating any marine business, you need commercial coverage—recreational policies exclude commercial use entirely.
Most marine policies cover hurricane damage, but may require you to follow a named storm plan—moving your vessel or taking specific precautions when a storm is forecast. We'll help you understand your policy's requirements and make sure you're prepared before hurricane season arrives.
