What's the difference between a Business Owners Policy and separate commercial policies?

A Business Owners Policy (BOP) bundles property, liability, and business interruption coverage into one convenient package—often at a lower cost than buying each separately. However, BOPs have coverage limits and may not fit every business. Larger operations or specialized industries often need standalone policies for more comprehensive protection.

Do I need cyber liability insurance for my small business?

If you store customer data, process credit cards, or use email for business, you have cyber exposure. A data breach can cost tens of thousands in notification requirements, legal fees, and reputation damage—even for small businesses. Cyber liability is increasingly essential, not optional, for modern businesses.

What does business interruption insurance actually cover?

Business interruption coverage replaces lost income and pays ongoing expenses when a covered event—like a fire or storm—forces you to close temporarily. It can cover rent, payroll, loan payments, and even the cost of operating from a temporary location while your business recovers.

How much general liability coverage does my business need?

Most small businesses start with $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, but the right amount depends on your industry, contracts, and risk exposure. Some clients and landlords require specific limits. We'll review your situation and recommend coverage that protects your assets without overpaying.

What's the difference between general liability and professional liability?

General liability covers bodily injury and property damage—someone slips in your store or your employee damages a client's property. Professional liability (also called E&O) covers mistakes in your professional services—bad advice, missed deadlines, or errors that cause financial harm. Many businesses need both.

Does worker's comp cover all employee injuries?

Worker's compensation covers injuries and illnesses that occur during employment, regardless of fault. It pays medical expenses and lost wages while protecting you from employee lawsuits. However, intentional self-harm and injuries from intoxication may not be covered. North Carolina requires worker's comp for businesses with three or more employees.
